Business Data Professional Programme (BDPP)

Strengthen business and data analysis capability across requirements engineering, SQL, data modelling, business intelligence, governance and target operating models.

Develop a hybrid business and data analysis skill set across requirements, SQL, data modelling and business intelligence. This 22-week intermediate pathway connects stakeholder needs with practical reporting and delivery.

Starting point and progression

Designed for learners ready to build beyond introductory business analysis and data skills. Discuss your experience with requirements, Excel and basic SQL before agreeing your preparation and progression.

What you will learn

  • Agile business analysis, user stories, backlogs and Scrum practices.
  • Requirements elicitation, validation and traceability.
  • SQL joins, aggregations, validations and stored procedures; entity-relationship modelling, schema design and data mapping.
  • Advanced Excel functions, macros and introductory VBA.
  • Power BI and Tableau for business intelligence and visualisation.
  • BPMN 2.0 and target operating models; stakeholder documentation and data governance awareness including DAMA-DMBOK, GDPR and MiFID II.

Practical work and portfolio

Complete an end-to-end business analysis project connecting requirements, a data model and a BI dashboard. Explain how the reporting answers the business question and where data quality or interpretation limits your conclusions.

What you can develop

  • Translate stakeholder needs into traceable requirements.
  • Develop data models and mappings that support a reporting solution.
  • Use SQL to investigate and validate the information behind a dashboard.
  • Present a supported recommendation combining business and data perspectives.
