Who this programme is for

Office professionals, administrators, career starters and career changers who need confident everyday Microsoft productivity skills.

Entry guidance

Basic computer use and access to the relevant Microsoft applications are recommended; this route develops practical productivity rather than specialist tenant administration.

What you will develop

  • Word reports, reusable templates and document structure
  • Excel formulas, pivot tables, analysis and introductory macros
  • PowerPoint presentation design and clear visual communication
  • Outlook scheduling, Teams collaboration and SharePoint shared working
  • Responsible Copilot and automation workflows, with human checks on accuracy and privacy

Practical outputs

A coordinated workplace portfolio: a formatted report, analysed spreadsheet, presentation and shared collaboration workspace.

Learning and support

This 16-week live online programme combines guided learning, workplace simulations, project activity and mentoring. Career preparation includes mock interview practice and three months of job-search support. Confirm software access, feature availability and support arrangements with RDE before enrolment.

Career pathways and UK pay context

Administration, business support, project coordination and digital office roles. Microsoft 365 administration requires additional technical knowledge and experience.

The National Careers Service gives office manager salaries of £25,000–£40,000 from starter to experienced level. This is a related career benchmark, not a salary forecast for programme graduates.

Pay varies with experience, location and responsibilities. Contract day rates exclude employee benefits and do not imply continuous paid work. Reviewed 6 October 2026.

Certification guidance

This is a skills-development programme. A vendor certification requires the relevant provider assessment; completing this programme does not automatically award a Microsoft, Google, Tableau or other vendor credential. Ask RDE which assessment preparation and completion recognition apply before enrolment.
