A six-week digital leadership and transformation accelerator for experienced professionals who need targeted digital, data, AI and transformation capability to compete for realistic senior-management-entry or established-management roles.
The Senior Digital Accelerator is a six-week leadership and transformation route for experienced professionals who need to update their digital, data and AI capability and reposition credible prior experience for current recruitment opportunities.
Who this programme is for
Experienced professionals, managers, senior specialists and suitable management-entry candidates, including people returning after redundancy, career interruption or sector change. Entry requires evidence of meaningful responsibility for people, workstreams, services, budgets, stakeholders, governance or professional decisions. The route develops existing experience; it does not create seniority in six weeks.
Career pathway choices
- Business & Transformation Leadership: senior analysis, change, service improvement and transformation.
- Programme, PMO & Delivery Leadership: project delivery, governance, implementation and programme support leadership.
- Data, AI & Decision Leadership: evidence-led management, reporting, responsible AI adoption and decision support.
- Digital Operations & Product Leadership: operational improvement, technology-enabled services and product operations.
Role level and pathway selection depend on prior achievement, specialist experience, diagnostic evidence and genuine vacancies. Technical data or AI management roles require the relevant depth of existing expertise.
What you will develop
- Strategic problem framing, options analysis and transformation recommendations.
- Operating models, senior stakeholder engagement and change adoption.
- Programme governance, RAID, dependencies, benefits and executive reporting.
- KPI interpretation, dashboard literacy and responsible AI decision-making.
- Executive positioning, recruiter conversations, presentations and panel preparation.
Practical evidence
Develop an executive evidence pack with a leadership proposition, targeted CV, professional profile, achievement evidence and career-transition plan. A bounded transformation challenge can produce a problem statement, stakeholder map, current-state diagnosis, options appraisal, business-case rationale, governance plan, data or AI controls and an executive presentation. Each participant records their own responsibility and contribution.
Learning and delivery
The six-week route combines live online teaching, supported workshops, practical team activity, mentor feedback and recruitment preparation. Learning focuses on the gaps identified through your diagnostic and the requirements of realistic vacancies. Discuss laptop, internet, software access and reasonable adjustments with RDE before starting.
Entry and referral
Register your interest directly or discuss a referral with your work coach or referral partner. RDE assesses suitability, work readiness, digital confidence and support needs before offering a place. Any funded place depends on an available delivery arrangement and the eligibility rules for that route. A referral or Universal Credit claim does not automatically secure funding or admission.
RDE provides the training independently. These pages do not confirm a DWP or Jobcentre Plus commission. Where referral partners arrange English or maths screening, discuss this before referral; any identified support needs should inform the suitability assessment.
Employment support
Eligible participants can receive structured employment progression support for up to 180 days after the programme. Support includes targeted applications, CV and portfolio refinement, interview preparation and progress reviews, aligned with available vacancies and individual needs.
Employer opportunities and certification
Practical challenge work creates evidence of capability. Formal work experience, employer assessments and genuine interviews depend on confirmed opportunities within the delivery arrangement. A simulated or RDE-managed challenge is not automatically a formal employer placement. Mock interviews are preparation activities; employment decisions remain with employers.
Selected professional learning or certification preparation may be available where agreed for the pathway and delivery arrangement. Ask RDE which access, assessments and completion recognition apply. Programme completion does not automatically award every related professional credential.
