RDE Professional Short Courses: Business and Project Foundations

Scrum Master Certified (SMC®) Preparation is a focused Professional Short Course for learners who want structured preparation for the current SCRUMstudy Scrum Master Certified route. RDE is an approved VMEdu partner and can assign candidates through its partner portal for preparation, examination and certification access under the applicable SCRUMstudy route.

Course focus

The course develops practical understanding of Scrum roles, events, artefacts, principles and the responsibilities associated with effective Scrum Master practice. Learning is positioned around the current SMC® certification route rather than the separate Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC™) credential.

Certification route

Where a candidate is assigned through RDE's authorised partner portal, the applicable SCRUMstudy certification exam is included in the route. Certification is awarded by SCRUMstudy after the candidate successfully meets the relevant examination requirements; completing RDE preparation alone does not automatically award the credential.

How you can study

Delivery can be provided through live online or self-directed learning, subject to the current course schedule, partner access terms and availability.

Who this course is for

Aspiring Scrum Masters, project professionals and team members developing facilitation and Scrum delivery capability.

Entry guidance

Discuss your existing experience and preparation needs with RDE before enrolment. The 9-hour short-course duration is a focused learning allocation; additional reading, revision and assessment preparation may be needed.

Learning themes

Indicative preparation themes are outlined below. Confirm the delivery syllabus with RDE and use the current provider requirements when planning certification.

  • Scrum principles, responsibilities and collaborative delivery
  • Facilitation, impediment handling and team improvement
  • Planning, estimation, review and retrospective practice

Practical activity

Example activity: Facilitate a simulated team discussion, maintain an impediment log and propose an improvement action. This practice supports understanding and communication; it does not replace the provider examination.

Learning outcomes

Develop the ability to explain core concepts, apply them to a bounded scenario and identify areas requiring further practice. Certification preparation supports professional development but does not guarantee a job or demonstrate workplace experience on its own.
